INGREDIENTS

WAAKYE

  • Beans
  • Rice
  • Sorghum Leaves

WAAKYE STEW

  • Onion
  • Ginger
  • Dry pepper
  • Oil
  • Dry fish (Pounded one)
  • Powder shrimp

METHOD OF PREPARATION

WAAKYE

  • Wash beans and put in sauce pan
  • Add sorghum leaves
  • Measure cups of water and pour into beans
  • Put on fire
  • Cook till it’s almost cooked
  • Take out sorghum leaves before adding rice 
  • Wash rice and pour it into the partially cooked beans, add a cup of water and add salt
  • Leave it for some minutes, open and check if water has drained
  • If rice isn’t cooked, add some water to it
  • After some minutes, check if rice is cooked, when cooked
  • Waakye is done

WAAKYE STEW

  • Wash and cut onions, then blend it
  • Pour oil in saucepan and put on fire
  • Pour blended onion into hot oil and stir
  • Blend ginger
  • Pour ginger into onion and add dry fish
  • Stir then add dry pepper and stir for some minutes
  • Pour shrimp powder into it
  • Add little salt and spices and leave on fire for few minutes 
  • Add little oil to it
  • Reduce the heat of the fire and stir till it becomes brown
  • Taste pepper and salt if it’s okay
  • Remove from fire to cool down
  • Ready to serve
